Independence crown or wind play hand wand

Materials: 

• leaves with wines (dunno what you call that but you can get it from the florist)  
• wire
• ribbons (yellow, blue, red & white) - colours of Malaysia flag
• pipe cleaners
• hibiscus flower (cut from toddler's wet on wet painting)

A pot of gold ('kam')

Materials: 

• paper bowl 
• wire
• any recycled paper (as stuffing for the 'kam' and bowl - to fill it up)
• crepe paper (yellow - to cover the paper (i.e. base)
• felt (green)
• 'ang pow' cut outs  
• water colour paint

*Adult (or older children) can scrunch the yellow crepe (to make like gold nuggets) and wraps orange crepe to make the 'kam'. Toddlers paste only.

Materials: 

• frame (twigs)
• rice paper
• chinese black ink
• chinese brush
• crepe paper 

(amazing scribbling by toddlers) 

 

Pumpkin Ice-Cream

Easy to make & yummy :] (for pumpkin lovers - children & adults)

Ingredients: 

• pumpkin (cooked)
• ice-cream (vanilla) or something light 

Methods:

1. Put some pumpkin in a bowl (put more if you like)

2. Put a scope (+/-) of ice-cream over

3. Mesh the pumpkin & ice-cream together

4. Eat your 'pumpkin ice-cream'

* you can try mixing with gelato ice-cream/non-dairy ice-cream..haven't try yet but think should be ok.

Almost 5 years ago...made them with the help of parents/friends and the children for MCF’s fund raising Christmas Bazaar as well as distributed to children with cancer in hospitals.

Wet on wet painting by toddlers. Scribbling by toddlers.  

Adults cut out shapes. Toddlers can paste colour glass papers (assisted) 

Adults wrap the paper around to make it into a cylinder. Attached string & branch (to hold the lantern).  

Toddlers oil the paper.

 

Chinese New Year Craft

2013 CNY toddler's approved crafts 

• 'Peach blossom' 

(Pot - paper cup wrapped with recycle wrappers from hampers etc. 
tree branches, crepe paper, CNY ang pow, glue)

• Lantern pasting (toddler paste red circles...adults add the frills etc)

• 'Fire cracker' coinbox  (wet on wet painting as the back ground...CNY angpow cut outs for pasting)

Adults cut out the paper to the size of recycled glass jar and wrap it around.
